The reigning Domino’s WSL National Cup champions Killester will take on the winners of Limerick Celtics and VSC Cavan Eagles in the quarter-finals, while defending Domino’s Women’s Super League champions Trinity Meteors face FloMAX Liffey Celtics in round one.
The defending Domino’s Women’s Super League champions Trinity Meteors will hope to begin their Domino’s WSL National Cup campaign with a home win, as they face last year's finalists and two-time winners FloMAX Liffey Celtics. Trinity Meteors fell short to FloMAX Liffey Celtics at the semi-final stage of last years’ Domino’s WSL National Cup, where Liffey Celtics came away 12-point winners.
Trinity Meteors currently sit in sixth place of the Domino’s Women’s Super League, with a 3-3 record. In their recent outing against Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell, Trinity came away 87-72 winners, as Morgan Lenahan led the scoring with 23 points. Zayn Urbaniak- Dornstauder currently leads the Trinity scoring with 87 points, while Irish internationals Hazel Finn and Aisling Moran have combined for 135.
FloMAX Liffey Celtics recently defeated Trinity Meteors 73-55 in the Domino’s Women’s Super League, as they sit in fourth position. Hillary Netsiyanwa’s side started the season going 1-2; however, three wins in a row have helped flip the script and send them to the upper half of the table. Katie Williamson is only one point away from the 100-point mark in the Domino’s Women’s Super League, while Americans Brooke Kane and Nya Epps have secured 86 and 81 points respectively.
Domino’s WSL National Cup debutants Limerick Celtics will have home advantage over the 2024/25 Domino’s WD1 National Cup champions VSC Cavan Eagles in round one this weekend. Last season, Limerick Celtics failed to get past the quarter-finals of the Domino’s WD1 National Cup, losing to Moy Tolka Rovers, as VSC Cavan Eagles were also halted at the final eight by Trinity Meteors in the Domino’s WSL National Cup.
Limerick Celtics have climbed to eighth position in the Domino’s Women’s Super League, winning two out of six games so far. Celtics picked up their first victory of the season against Midlands Park Portloaoise Panthers in a 64-55 win, before narrowly beating Killester 66-64 the following week. Jeni Levine leads the scoring charts for Limerick Celtics with 146 points, while also leading the league in assists.
VSC Cavan Eagles enter the first round of the Domino’s WSL National Cup as Domino’s Women’s Super League leaders. So far, the Cavan side have only suffered one loss and have managed to secure five wins. Kilah Freelon leads the league in rebounds, averaging 18.3 per game, while also leading her side in points. Her American teammate Darrione Rogers has tallied up 117 points for the season, topping the three-point chart across the league.
