Shane Bell returns to Belfast Star as Domino's Men's Super League rosters take shape

Shane Bell returns to Belfast Star following his standout debut season in the Domino’s Men’s Super League, while UCC Demons sign Asanti Price, a former Harlem Globetrotter and NBA G League player. EJ Sligo All-Stars sign four international players, as Energywise Ireland Neptune look to get back to their best with Adam Drummond at the wheel.

Shane Bell and Jordan Green boost Belfast Star’s roster

Adrian Fulton has re-signed Shane Bell after a stellar 2025/26 campaign, averaging 17.8 points per game, with a 21.4 efficiency. Bell tipped-off the season with a 38-point game against EJ Sligo All-Stars and racked up two double-double performances over his seventeen games.

Bell will be accompanied by Jordan Green on the 12-man roster, with the 6’8 forward signing from St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC), New York. Green helped his side reach the ECC Championship Quarterfinals, averaging 11 points per game in the 29 game season.

Head coach, Adrian Fulton, spoke about the two additions to his roster.

“We are delighted to have Shane (Bell) back. He was terrific for us last season until he had to head home unfortunately for medical reasons. Really pleased that he has made a full recovery and having that consistency into a second year will be beneficial,” said Fulton. “Jordan played at STAC in New York which is a good D2 programme. He is a terrific athlete and hopefully will give us a threat inside and at the rim as well as on the boards.”

EJ Sligo All-Stars sign four international stars

New head coach, Henry Wilkins, has significantly boosted his roster ahead of the 2026/27 Domino’s Men’s Super League with five new signings. Eoghan Donaghy is the only player to join from a National League side, coming from Limerick Celtics and returning to his hometown of Sligo, while four players arrive from overseas.

Albright Obode makes a return to Ireland, after playing in the USA for multiple college sides, most recently with the University of West Alabama (UWA). The Waterford forward, who stands at 6’9, helped UWA earn a 27-6 record and a number three seed in the NCAA Division II South Regional.

Ibbe Klintman arrives to Sligo from Sweden following his debut professional season with Trelleborg Pirates Basketball. Klintman averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game in his 2025/26 campaign, finishing out the season with a 27-point game against AIK.

EJ Sligo All-Stars have bolstered their forward line with Liam Murphy, who had an impressive season with Purdue University, USA in the NCAA Division I. Murphy also represented University of North Florida and Columbia University during his collegiate career.

Miles Brown, a guard from Rochester, New York, joins EJ Sligo All Stars from Essex Rebels following an outstanding campaign during 2025/26. Brown earned himself a place in the British Championship Basketball Team of the Year, averaging 24.7 points, six assists and five rebounds per game.

UCC Demons sign former Harlem Globetrotter

Stuart Rodgers took the reins at UCC Demons following the departure of Danny O’Mahony, and has added three international talents to his roster. Former Harlem Globetrotter, Asanti Price, has signed for the Cork side with previous experience in the NBA G League for the Texas Legends.

Price signed with the Globetrotters as a rookie forward in November 2024, following a stellar college career with Benedict College, USA tallying 12.8 points per game. He will be joined at UCC Demons by fellow signings Davy Rocha and Taeshon Cherry.

Rocha has played international basketball for Luxembourg, while also developing his game for Club Baloncesto Murgi in Spain. The 6’8 power forward averaged just over 11 points per game for his Spanish side last season, while also playing against Ireland twice in the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers.

Taeshon Cherry also stands at 6’8 in the forward line, having played his basketball in USA and Australia prior to his move to UCC Demons. Cherry recently lined out for the Willetton Tigers in Australia, playing in the NBL 1 West Division, where he averaged over 22 points per game, helping Willetton Tigers reach the semi-final of their division.

Energywise Ireland Neptune announce Jalen Hodge, Kendall Taylor and Sam Smith

Adam Drummond has made some big signings in his first season back in charge of Energywise Ireland Neptune. Drummond spoke about his new position and the jump from youth to senior coaching.

“We took a positive step last year with the U20s. We were one of the youngest teams to make a deep run in competitions. A lot of those lads will be returning this year with the hope of getting over the line and winning trophies,” said Drummond. “U20 to Super League is an obvious jump from a coaching standpoint - both on and off the court. I’m trying to take it a day at a time and remain in the moment. I really enjoy the process of it all. Before we know it, it’ll be the first weekend of October.”

“I was under no illusions before taking this role that it was going to be difficult. It’s hard to win games in this league but we’re putting in a foundation this summer to give ourselves a chance. We have to find the joy in basketball again,” added Drummond.

Kendall Taylor, the 6’5 guard from Sacramento, California, joins the Cork side from the College of Charleston, USA. Taylor opened the 2025/26 campaign with a double-double against the Tusculum Pioneers, but his finest season came at Wingate, averaging 24 points and eight rebounds per game in his senior season.

Jalen Hodge has joined Energywise Ireland Neptune, having previously played in the Domino’s Men’s Super League for Ulster University during the 2023/24 season. During his time with Ulster University, he averaged 18 points per game, but prior to this, Hodge played an important role for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, USA.

In Sam Smith’s debut senior season, he averaged nine points and five rebounds per game for Wagner University, with his standout game coming against Bryant & Stratton Albany, where he recorded a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double. Prior to Wagner University, Smith played two seasons at Harding University, where the 6’6 forward started 53 of 54 games.
